Hello Warriors!
Today I would like to talk about a very special person: my uncle Adolfo.
Strictly speaking he is not my uncle, he is my father’s cousin but since I am only 9 months old I do not make any distinction. Besides that, in my father’s heart he is like a brother to him which is what matter the most. They were born forty days apart so they have spent most of their life time together. At some point, my father went abroad to do his humanitarian work so they could not see each other so often. However, Adolfo went to visit him to many countries where they could continue their adventures. They had great times together.
My father says – and I totally agree – that Adolfo is the most good-natured and kind-hearted person he has ever met in his life. Being a humanitarian worker my father has met a lot of good people but Uncle Adolfo is number one 🙂
It is, therefore, quite normal that Uncle Adolfo has been one of the first to join my army against GSD 1b. He told me that the company he works for, Financialforce, is full of good people who love helping others. He even told me they have a specific program called FinancialForce4Good which allows employees to spend time collaborating/volunteering on solidary causes. That’s amazing.
Uncle Adolfo is not only a kind person, he is also very funny. You know what…. He always used to make jokes such as “Running is for cowards or for bad bull fighters”, “The only exercise I do is walking to the nearest means of transportation” or even “If walking was so good, the post man would be immortal”. Isn’t it funny? In parallel, at that time, his mum used to tell him that “When a mule walks along a lane, the lane ends or the mule dies” as he was sometimes very obstinate.
With plenty of will power he turned things around, started training and running long distances and now he is one of the fittest persons we know. He decided to make his biggest challenge to help me give visibility to the fight against GSD 1b.
He had the great idea of joining his company’s FinancialForce4Good program and his running passion, and next Saturday he will run a 40k mountain Marathon in Granada. Can you imagine? He will run 40k to help me, that is sooo cool! He tells me this will be the hardest thing he has ever done in life, but he is stubborn as a mule and super motivated to help me, so for sure he will complete it. Moreover, Uncle Adolfo tells me that Jean Cocteau said, “They didn’t know it was impossible so they did it”.
